Amy & John – Wedding Reception at Arlington HallDallas, TX

Time to party!  Since John is an executive chef at Nick and Sam’s Steakhouse, naturally they catered their reception with so many yummy dishes!  They even had a pig roasting outside and had a taco bar from their favorite taco place!  It’s safe to say that food was an important part of their big day and I think everyone definitely enjoyed it!  In addition to the great food, after the cake cutting, everyone enjoyed a dazzling fireworks show put on by Pyrotex.  What an amazing night full of fun, family and friends.  Amy and John shared one last private dance together before heading off on their honeymoon.

“Our time together is spent either grocery shopping, cooking (me watching him cook lol), going to the park with our yellow lab Hank, or with friends. I tell him that I enjoy his company so much, we could pick trash up on the side of the highway and I’d be happy. I just adore him!!!!” -Amy

Congratulations to Amy and  John!

Amy & John – Wedding First Look and Ceremony at Arlington HallDallas, TX

Amy and John are married!  It was such a pleasure getting to work with these two.  They are one of those couples who just enjoy being together and in each other’s company.  You could definitely tell a difference on the wedding day once they finally got to see each other during their first look.  Once they were together it was like nothing else really mattered except that they were together.  I love how Amy talks about how John proposed to her.  Here is their story in her own words:

“So while I knew engagement and wedding was ahead for us, I did not think it would happen until after Easter at the earliest, since that was the next time he was going to see my dad and “get his blessing.”
All of the “firsts” or big dates in our relationship have happened on the 25th of a month. John is a chef and only has Sundays and Mondays off, and since he worked Valentines for everyone else, he said we should have our own special day for us and just make it Feb 25th. So he had planned a nice dinner and a show for us on Sun, Feb 25th which I looked online and has decided was probably Frankenstein at the Winspear since Young Frankenstein was maybe the 2nd movie we watched together when we started dating. He had said we had early dinner reservations at Trulucks and the timing made sense with the 7:30 show. When the waiter greeted us, John let him we know we had somewhere we had to be after dinner and that it would be best if we left by 6:30. I told the waiter “no, no, it’s not that urgent, the show we are going to isn’t until 7:30, we have time.” John just looked at my startled and was like “what? What are you doing?” I was like, “honey I know we are going to Frankenstein, I googled shows tonight and figured it out. It starts at 7:30 so we have time.” He again asked the waiter if we could be closed out around then. When we left Trulucks we took an Uber towards Klyde Warren Park and he asked if we could be let out early since it was a nice night and we could walk through the park. We are walking trough and he said “I know I told you your Valentines would be late, and before we leave here I wanted to give you this:”. And it was an envelope with a printout saying we were getting seats to the Justin Timberlake concert but date and location of seats was TBD. I was so excited because we had last talked about it and decided the tickets were too expensive. He then starts asking me if I really read the print out. I was like yeah, we are going but the details are unknown. He tells me to read it again so I do. Meanwhile I don’t notice he is starting to say something about how happy he has been with me and that he had something he planned to say but couldn’t and starts kneeling and reaching inside his coat pocket…the next thing I know there is a ring in front of me, the lid on the ring’s box fell off, and people with cameras are running up to us taking photographs!! I was stunned. He asked if I would marry him and my eyes were huge and I said “JOHN. You haven’t asked my dad!” He said “yes I did—I drove to your parents house on Monday on my day off.” I was in tears. He spent his day off driving 3.5 hours to their house in Houston and 3.5 hours back on Monday while he was off work and I was at work to ask for my parents blessing!!!! He then got us an Uber to a favorite dive bar of ours where our friends and family were waiting, AND he had reached out to my boss ahead of time to get me the next morning off from work!! “

Check back for more photos of their amazing reception!

Laura & Jared – Engagement Session at The Winspear and White Rock LakeDallas, TX

Laura and Jared are getting married this upcoming December at the Ashton Depot!  They are planning for a brunch wedding, which I am super excited for.  These two met through friends at the church where they are both very involved.  Their engagement story is so cute; Laura describes the night in her own words:

“Jared asked me a couple of weeks in advance if he could plan an early birthday celebration for me and said he would make me dinner. I thought the proposal could be coming as the celebration was set for a dating anniversary and was a year from the day of a special date early in our relationship. He was really normal throughout the day (we went on a home tour that I had found), so I didn’t think it would actually happen. When we got to his apartment and it was normal (not covered in rose petals), I knew it wasn’t happening and so just settled in to a nice evening with him. We ended up tag teaming dinner and making it together where I was a little frustrated because he was using recipes from an Irish chef and all the measurements were in European measurements. We still had fun though. 🙂
After eating our dinner – and the from scratch Guinness chocolate cake he made me, he said that he had an early birthday present for me. He came back with a gift bag that had a photo book inside. The photos were from our time dating and while this probably should have been a trigger, I didn’t catch on at all and was absorbed in reliving the memories and enjoying the photos. He had also written a super sweet poem throughout the book (definitely should have caught on :)). About 3 pages from the end of the book, it said “I’ll never love another” and that’s when I knew it was happening. The last page of the book said “will you marry me?” and he got down on one knee and had the ring in his hand. I said “yes” immediately :).

What seemed like only a few minutes later, but apparently was 45 minutes, we heard a knock on the door and a bunch of friends came in for an engagement party. He had coordinated the whole thing and was paying careful attention to the time while I was processing being engaged :).”

I am looking forward to their big day in just a few months!  Congratulations Laura and Jared!

Madison & Logan – Engagement Session at Highland Park and White Rock LakeDallas, TX

I am so excited to share Madison and Logan’s engagement session!!  These two were so cute and incredibly natural in front of the camera.  Even their two cute pups were perfect little models!  Their proposal story is so sweet and I love how Madison tells it in her own words:

“Logan began planning to propose October 2017, to which I had no clue. For our anniversary, which was on a Wednesday, he had gotten me a necklace that had an engraving on it. I wasn’t allowed to look at the engraving until Saturday, 1/13/18. He told me I would think too much into what it meant. Friday night Logan’s mom came into town to visit for the day. The following morning she took me to get our hair done (I found out later that Logan had planned that as well), then we went to lunch and said our goodbyes. Logan had told me that he had a surprise anniversary date planned for the afternoon after she went back home. We went to the Dallas Arboretum, where he told me he planned to get pictures taken as we had never done anything like that. Walking to the garden where we were going to meet the photographer he let me look at the engraving on the necklace which was 1/12/15 to infinity. He explained that the infinity meant a future proposal, to which I thought nothing of. When we got to the garden I was surprised by instant pictures being taken by the photographer, and strings of pictures of the two of us. As soon as we went around the corner I knew what was I happening. Logan asked and I of course said yes. We were then greeted by our families. The whole day was perfect!”

I loved getting to hang out with them and can’t wait for their January wedding next year!

Allison & Amir – Engagement Session at the Dallas Arboretum and White Rock LakeDallas, Texas

Allison and Amir traveled from Midland, where they both live and work, for their engagement session.  These two Tech graduates have a sweet story of how they met:

“Amir and I met six years ago at Texas Tech University. I joined Alpha Chi Omega Sorority my first year at TTU. I kept running into Amir at Sigma Nu Fraternity parties through mutual friends. When we had our first conversation it felt like we were the only ones in the room, even though it was filled with at least one hundred people. We had such a memorable two years at TTU together; from attending each others date parties, to cheering on our Red Raiders on the football field.”

I’m excited to share some of my favorite images from their session and can’t wait for their wedding!

These two met at frog camp at TCU and soon started dating after.  They have now been together for 6 years and tie the knot next year!  Mitch proposed on his parents lake property in Granbury and then surprised Morgan with an engagement party with friends and family.  We explored Lakeside Park and White Rock Lake for their engagement session.  Check out some of my favorite moments!

Kelsey & Kal – Engagement Session at the Dallas Arboretum & White Rock LakeDallas, Texas

Kelsey and Kal sat in cubicles next to each other at work for about a year before they started dating!  A mutual friend invited them to a concert, and that’s where there story began.  These two were the sweetest and I love their proposal story shared below in Kelsey’s own words:

We went to visit a friend and her husband in San Antonio and had planned to go to the river walk and Fredericksburg while we were down there. On Saturday morning, Kal said he knew of a neat place to eat lunch on the river walk so we drove down there. As we were walking on the river walk, he showed me a place called ‘marriage island’ (which I had never heard of at the time). There were rose petals sprinkled and our names and picture hanging from the tree. He got down on one knee and proposed. My mom, dad and sister were hiding out taking pictures and videos and surprised me. It was absolutely perfect!

Check out some of my favorite moments from their engagement session!

Carter Ann & Michael – Engagement at the Dallas Arboretum & White Rock LakeDallas, Texas

These two met in high school but it wasn’t until Michael returned from his deployment to finish school at Texas Tech did they start dating!  I loved getting to know them during their engagement session!  Here’s how Michael popped the question:

My family used to ranch out in West Texas and I have a cousin who still lives there with his wife and 2 adorable kids. We’re all really close and go out to visit any chance we get. As a little girl I’d always go explore the sand hills and look for arrowheads. We went to go visit over 4th of July weekend and we all went out to the old ranch to drive around. We stopped at my old sand hills and decided to go hunt for arrowheads. As we climbed to the top Michael pointed over my shoulder and asked if that looked like and old Indian dugout, when I turned back around he was down on one knee! It was almost 10 years to the day after we’d met.

Can’t wait for their wedding next year!
