We have all kinds of tips when it comes to picking your perfect engagement session location. However, sometimes people get stuck thinking they need to pick the obvious “picturesque” location because that’s where everyone else takes engagement photos. Not true!! Don’t be embarrassed to tell us places that are meaningful to you. You may not be able to see the potential in your favorite date night location, but we can! Knowing what activities you like to do together as a couple, the college campus where you met, your favorite coffee place, winery or brewery, the place where you had your first date, where you got engaged, etc… can help us come up with a photo shoot that is unique to you and your story.
When Melissa and I were discussing where they should take their engagement photos, we knew she wanted to have a city vibe. Every location we decided on has meaning to them and it made for the best photos. We started at the Belo Mansion which is where their reception will be, where they met AND where John’s parents were married. The Winspear has those city skyline views and is also across the street from where John proposed. And last (my favorite and most unique) we stopped by the Burger House. The Burger House has been a staple in John’s family and a place he grew up going to that he then introduced to Melissa when they started dating. It has become a frequent post-church lunch spot and date night dinner spot for them. So, when Melissa said that John had suggested we use it as a location, I looked it up and immediately thought “I can have some fun with this place”! So now they now not only have locations unique to them but we also got to play with some different lighting techniques using the restaurant’s neon lighting.
Don’t be afraid to share your thoughts and ideas with us. Most likely we can make it work and make it look amazing!
