Diana – Bridal at the KimbellFort Worth, TX

Diana was such a trooper on this warm day!  She looked gorgeous in her gown from De Ma Fille and had some beautiful flowers done by Tami Winn Events.  The Kimbell Art Museum was the perfect backdrop for this bride.  Check out a few of my favorite moments from her shoot!  Check out her wedding blog for pictures from her amazing day!

Bohanan Family – Fall Portraits in Trinity ParkFort Worth, Texas

The end of 2016 was CRAZY busy with family portraits galore in October – December.  We photographed so many beautiful families and now that Christmas cards have all gone out, been admired and shared we are excited to start sharing some of our fave families!  This family is a little near and dear to us – this is my baby brother and his wife and kids!  The live out of town so it’s rare when I can get these guys in front of my camera.  Over Thanksgiving we snuck off for a quick photo shoot to surprise our families with for Christmas.  Photographing the connection between parents and their children and all the silly laughter and moments in-between are the best part of our job.

Morgan, Jason, Jacks, and BentonFall Mini Session Trinity Park

Lightly Photography 2016

This family is the BEST!  We love being able to catch up with these guys during their session and see how much the kiddos have grown.  This family is always looking stylish, especially Benton with her adorable polka dotted dress.  Although she was a little camera shy we got some great smiles out of her eventually!  Jacks has developed into an adventures and joyful little guy!  We love being able to capture sweet moments with this family.  Check out some of the images from our Fall mini session!

Clint, Kim and Collins – Family Portraits

Lightly Photography 2016 http://lightlyphoto.com

We are so happy to share these photos of this beautiful family!  Sweet Collins is 4 years old and has already conquered cancer once, but she is facing that battle once more.  Collins has the sweetest spirit and is just so precious.  We were able to get in some family portraits before she gets too far in her treatments and she was such a trooper.  She didn’t feel very good, but you’d never know it!  She showed us her very cool fringed boots and we talked about her favorite Disney Princess, Belle.  Collins has a sweet smile, but when she laughs it is incredibly infectious!  We love getting photograph Collins and her parents, Clint and Kim.  We ask for prayers for their family as they go through this tough journey with Collins.  We can’t wait to photograph them again as soon as she is feeling much better!

3 Generations Session – Sophie and her Mommy & GrandmotherRockledge Park, Grapevine

Tracy Autem 2015

It’s not every day I can get 3 generations of women together for a fun portrait!  Loved that I got to catch up with little Sophie (hadn’t seen her since her 1st birthday!) and watch her play with her Mommy and Grandma.  Thanks ladies for letting me capture your little tribe of girls!  Rockledge Park in Grapevine was the perfect spot for this rambunctious 2 year old to climb and have fun.  In addition to exploring we played games and did lots of fun things like ball and bubbles!

WHAT TO WEAR - ENGAGEMENT PORTRAITSFAQ

Wondering what to wear for your engagement portraits?  It is one of the most difficult challenges when it comes time to step in front of the camera.  Here are some of our tips and tricks to make sure your outfits look flattering and visually interesting.
One of our favorite things is when our clients are not afraid to layer clothing in males and females. Layering offers an additional dimension, definition of your body shape and interest to your photos.

Make sure you are dressing appropriately for the season in which your photos are taken. If it is winter, layer up! If it is summer dress in lighter clothing. It may be wise for men to avoid long sleeves and suit jackets during summer months. If weather is expected to be hot bring along extra clothes in case you perspire and stain your clothing, it’s always good to have back up’s!

We encourage our clients not be afraid of bright colors or patterns. If you love patterns and bright colors EMBRACE IT!!!  You can always mix a bright with a neutral if you are afraid of all over color.
Lightly Photography 2015 http://lightlyphoto.com
Make sure the colors you are wear are complimentary but not matching. We warn against wearing white shirts and jeans or something to that liking as we prefer you not end up on an awkward family photo blog!

If you are going to buy new clothes make sure you buy silhouettes that you know flatter your body. We suggest staying away from the loose clothing. An outfit that is tailored or cinched and emphasizes the smalls part of your waist is always flattering.

When in doubt, go with what you love!  Wear things that make you feel pretty and are complimented by your friends.  We love this quote by one of our REAL brides:
“Like most brides, I did tons of research and read lots articles about what to wear for your engagement session. When the time came to pick an outfit, I threw the advice out the window and did what I thought would be best. I was sadly mistaken. The best advice I can give you is to dress like the girl your fiance fell in love with. He didn’t fall in love with a picture in a magazine. Wear what you know looks good on you, not someone else. Don’t use this time to break out new styles or trends. Be YOU.”
-Heather
So get to shopping, raid your own closet and start planning your engagement portrait outfits!  When in doubt reach out to us for help by shooting us over some photos of the looks you are considering.  Remember that you will need 2 outfits for a 2 hour session and 1 outfit for a 1 hour or mini shoot.  For further ideas and inspiration see our Pinterest board of engagement photos.

Gabbi’s Bat MitzvahShearith Israel in Dallas, Tx

Lightly Photography 2016

This was such a fun experience!  Over two days I got to spend some time with Gabbi and her sweet family while they celebrated her Bat Mitzvah.  I was able to take several family photos at the Shearith Israel Synagogue in Dallas and also able to capture some of Gabbi reading out of the Torah.  We then spent time getting some fun shots of Gabbi by herself.  She loved being behind the camera and was a natural!  To celebrate, Gabbi had a great after party where friends and family danced into the night.  It was great being able to capture these special moments!
