There’s something so special about photographing a little one more than once in the same year. You get to see just how much can change in what feels like no time at all.
I photographed Colt for his one-year portraits at the beginning of the year, when he was still very much in that sweet baby stage. Fast-forward to his fall session at Roaring Springs Park, and this little guy was on the move!
Walking, exploring, taking in everything around him—Colt had places to go and things to discover. And honestly, that’s exactly what makes this age so much fun to photograph.
At Lightly Photography, I love letting little ones be themselves during a session. Rather than expecting a toddler to sit perfectly still and smile on command, we create space for movement, curiosity, and genuine interaction. That’s where the real personality comes through.
Colt’s fall portraits are a beautiful reminder of why documenting these milestones matters. The little details change so quickly—the way they walk, the expressions they make, the way they explore the world. One season you’re photographing a newly minted one-year-old, and the next, you’re following along as he confidently takes off on his own.
And while the photos are beautiful, it’s the story behind them that makes them meaningful: this was Colt at this exact little moment in childhood.
