Should You Wear Your Veil For Your First Look?

Katie + Jack

Ceremony at SMU Perkins Chapel

One of the most frequently asked questions we get is “should I wear my veil for the first look?”. And really the answer is, it’s completely up to you! But here are a few things to consider for either option. If you choose not to wear the veil for the first look, you still have a little bit of mystery left so that when you walk down the aisle it’s the first time he’s truly seeing your entire bridal look all put together. So if you want to maintain a little tradition and surprise, this is a great way to go and I feel most of my brides choose this route. It’s also helpful to leave it out if your first look is happening outside where it’s windy. It’s just one less thing to get in the way during your first moments seeing each other. However, this does mean that all the portraits taken before the ceremony will most likely not include your veil. So, if you LOVE your veil and want it to be included in all of your photos, you may want to consider putting it in for your first look.
