Emily + Garrett
The Sinclair Hotel and Fort Worth Mule Alley
Do you want your engagement photos to feel both now and timeless? It’s not impossible. Trust us. In fact, we’ve had several stylish couples show up in outfits that look both completely on-trend and absolutely timeless all the same. The key is to wear clothes that feel like you, just elevated.
If you go too out-of-your comfort zone, it often shows in how you carry yourself. While leaning into a polished version of your everyday style is a much surer way to land on looks that will stand the test of time. Go with styles and fits that feel true to your personal style. For makeup and hair, focus on highlighting your natural beauty instead of totally changing your look. If you never ever wear your hair up, for instance, your engagement session might not be the best time to try.
When it comes to colors, we recommend sticking to classic neutrals OR the colors you gravitate towards and feel your best in. If it’s a color you’ve worn regularly since your high school days, it’s likely it will continue to be a shade you like for years to come… as opposed to opting for something very on-trend at the moment that you may never visit again. Neon green, looking at you! Colors you have in your home are also good indicators of colors you consider classic, and will continue to enjoy seeing in your photos.
Finally, if you find a dress or outfit you absolutely love, there’s no reason to change into a second outfit you like less. Instead, why not throw on an accessory or swap out shoes to help fit the “scene” of your second location.
For Emily and Garrett their incredibly luxe looks were right at-home at the swanky, Art Deco-inspired Sinclair hotel, a favorite of theirs. But, with the addition of boots for her and a hat for him, they looked just as great exploring Mule Alley and the Stockyards, giving them the best of both worlds (two favorite hangouts for this stylish and sweet couple).
