There’s something especially sweet about photographing siblings at this age—old enough to have their own personalities, young enough to still lean into each other without hesitation. Hattie and Hamilton’s studio session was a perfect example of that in-between season we love documenting at Lightly Photography.
At 9, Hattie brings a calm confidence. She’s thoughtful, gentle, and naturally steps into her role as big sister with quiet pride. At 6, Hamilton is curious and playful, always ready to move, laugh, and keep things light. Together, they balance each other in the best way—easy smiles, spontaneous giggles, and moments of connection that feel completely natural.
Because this session took place in the studio, we were able to keep things simple and distraction-free. Clean backdrops, soft light, and guided prompts allowed their relationship to take center stage. No stiff posing. No pressure to perform. Just space for them to be exactly who they are right now.
Sibling sessions aren’t about perfect smiles—they’re about documenting the way childhood feels in this season. The arm slung over a shoulder. The quiet closeness between laughs. These are the moments parents don’t want to forget, even as the years move quickly.
Hattie and Hamilton reminded us why photographing sibling connection matters so much. These images will one day be a reminder of what it felt like to grow up together—and that’s always worth preserving.
