Becca & Cody | Wedding Reception at The Brooks at Weatherford

Their Love Story

I love that Becca and Cody found unique ways to make their wedding day totally them, from custom cookies chronicling their long distance relationship, and her beloved pup Snoopy, to a fantastic dance performance by Cody and his mom! There were so many wonderful ways these two shared their love story with their guests, and some major miracles along the way, too.

Here's a little more in Becca's own words.

"Cody and I met through mutual friends while we were both living in College Station. I later moved to Dallas for work, and now I'm in Tucson, AZ while Cody stayed in College Station. We have been dating for 3 years, most of the time in a long distance relationship... Cody proposed on the beach in Florida while we were celebrating his 30th birthday. We were with our good friends (the ones who introduced us) and went to take pictures on the beach when he proposed. I was completely surprised. Afterwards, we all went on a sunset cocktail cruise followed by tacos. The next day we went to a Miranda Lambert concert - it really doesn't get much better than that! Best weekend ever!

We like going to concerts (usually country) and doing cocktail cruises in different cities. I travel a lot for work, and Cody usually comes with me. We also like doing movie nights or walking my dog, Snoopy. We like going out for drinks and we are both wine lovers so we like doing wine tours and tastings.

We are getting married in a little white church, which is exactly what I've always wanted. We're excited to be surrounded by friends, family and Jesus! We're hoping it's just one big celebration. My wedding is in February - I love the winter so I'm really excited about it! I love being cold and getting all bundled up. We will have big fireplaces going and I'm hoping the day is overcast and beautiful.

I also won't be doing a wedding cake. I'm grain-free so I don't eat it anyways. I'm a huge chocolate fan so we are going to do a chocolate fountain instead!

I think the thing I am most looking forward to (besides leaving with a husband) is my dad being able to walk me down the aisle. My dad has had Parkinson's disease for 10 years, and it took away his ability to walk for more than a few steps. Besides it impacting his life and our family life in the obvious ways - it also meant that he wouldn't be able to walk me down the aisle on my wedding day or share a father/daughter dance at the reception. He recently had brain surgery to implant a device that uses electrodes to release the dopamine his body needs to move properly. By the grace of God, the surgery worked and he can now walk all day long!! It's truly a miracle. My wedding will be exactly 1 year and 1 week after his brain surgery. It's been a long road, but what a sweet ending."

So glad Becca and her dad could share a dance, and that we were all there to share in the joy.

Becca and Cody you sure throw one great wedding!

- Jennifer
