We, as photographers, absolutely love what we do. Whether it’s capturing the moments of your wedding day or making time stand still with a family portrait, photography brings us so much joy. Then there are the times where we have the opportunity to use our talents to help bless the lives of others. This may be my favorite. When thinking about what you can do to serve another person, photography does not always come to mind, but in certain situations what could be more precious and more treasured than those captured memories? Memories of good and happy times that will last a lifetime. I (Amanda) am so grateful to one of my best friends from high school who referred to me to Jordan and Zach a couple of months ago. This incredible couple welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Hannah into the world in March. At only one month old, sweet Hannah was diagnosed with SMA type 1: a form of spinal muscular atrophy that affects infants within the first few months of their lives. The diagnosis of this specific genetic disease is an incredibly heavy situation, as all the muscle groups eventually lose tone and deteriorate. This, however, does not effect Hannah’s mind and she is a happy, 3 month old baby girl who loves playing with mom and dad, balloons, getting her diaper changed and bath time. Oh man does she love bath time! Annie and I arrived at Zach and Jordan’s home to photograph them just hanging out and going through their daily routine. Hannah loves watching dad make silly faces and holding her balloons. When it was time for her bath though, oh that smile just made our hearts melt. The whole time we were there, she was happiest in the water. Zach would help her float and then hold her so she could dip her head back into the water and she was just having the time of her life! After bath time, Hannah pretty much falls straight to sleep, so we took that opportunity to get a few more photos with mom and dad. I am so impressed with this amazing couple and I am so glad to know them now. They have some hard trials, but also out of those trials you can see they are also wonderfully blessed. Hannah is such a beautiful and happy girl and we are truly grateful to have the blessing and opportunity to use our talents to capture this time in their lives. We look forward to seeing Zach, Jordan and Hannah again and watching her grow. This one is one of our absolute favorites of dad and his baby girl. Seriously, it just melts your heart!
