blog2 Models in the Making

This week I had the privilege of donating my time and services to a local YMCA. One of the classes at their summer day camp was a fashion class where they learned to pose, rock the runway and about the fashion industry. I took some head shots for these budding stars and I had a great time doing it. These kid brought it and then bombarded me with hugs and thank yous. Here are just a few of my favorites.

July 16, 2008 My Wedding Teaser

traceteaser My Wedding Teaser

My photographer sent me this over to tease me and of course wet my appetite to see some of my own wedding images. We had so much fun and I can’t wait to share the rest….JW and I got very wet as you can see. The best part is that the dress is fine! The trashing didn’t “trash” it. All it needs is a little steaming and it is good as new. In fact I will be wearing it next month for a little reception my husband’s Dad and Step Mom are throwing us.

More to come….as I get them. icon smile My Wedding Teaser
Thanks Cristina & Vanessa!

blogpersonal00006 I am back and married!

I am so excited to be home and even more to be married! JW and I had a wonderful trip to the US Virgin Islands and a even better wedding! My fabulous photographers, Cristina & Vanessa, are going to be sending some pictures my way to share later this week but I thought I would go ahead and share at least a few snapshots.

We stayed at a private villa on St John and the privacy was so perfect. We spent most nights in and cooked on the grill and sat on the balcony taking in the amazing views. The best way to see the island is by 4 wheel drive…trust me you need the 4wd! We spent every day exploring a new beach and just reading and relaxing. We did take a day trip to Virgin Gorda, a British Virgin Island, to see the world famous Baths.

All these photos were taken with my new point and shoot camera, the Olympus Stylus 1030SW. There in lies my tip for the week because this camera went everywhere and stood up to it all. It is completely waterproof up to 30 ft (just don’t open the battery door) and does great in the water, being dropped down a hill side and has great pre-set options for landscapes and sunsets. Every passer by that we handed it to to snap a quick picture did great and it even has a easy to use timer feature so you can set it on a rock or table and pose away. Best of all it has 10.1 megapixels so image quality won’t be a problem.

May 29, 2008 Something Blue!

weddingshow00001 Something Blue!
Here is my something blue! On my wedding day at the beach I will be sporting these fun satin wedges. Wedding dresses are long so you hardly ever see your shoes so do something fun under that dress. As women we obsess over every aspect of our “look.” Why not do so and invest in something you can wear over and over. Besides….cute shoes always make for cute pictures. icon smile Something Blue!

When are you ever going to wear white shoes again? Come on girls…I dare you and if you take the plunge and sport some fun foot attire you will most definitely score a spot on the blog.

It is no longer a secret because today I signed the lease and have keys in hand. Lightly Photography has a new home in the hospital district of down town Fort Worth! We will soon be moving into our sweet historic building at 1612 Park Place.

I love this building!
I will be sharing the space with two other fabulous companies:

&
Couture Cake StudioAnd soon a Gourmet to Go cafe.

More images from the inside as we move in and make ourselves all nice and cozy. I will be sure to invite you all out for a little celebration later this summer when the Gourmet to Go and Lightly Photography celebrate our grand opening.

ring00001 My Engagement Ring & Wedding Tip

Several of you have asked so here is a picture of my engagement ring. I was truly inspired by so many of my brides and knew what I wanted from admiring so many of your rings. JW gave it to me this evening and we had a “date night” in preparation for our first pre-marriage counseling with our pastor.

We were assigned a book to read: 10 Great Dates before Say I Do. We have only read the first chapter but love it so far. We had a pleasant dinner and excellent conversation about our expectations for the future. Every two weeks we will read a chapter and have a date to discuss it.

I recommend this book to all of you planning on getting married or even those of you newly married to help prepare and strengthen you for your future life together. So that is my wedding tip of the week.
