Lindsay & Keith – Wedding Reception at The Modern Art MuseumFort Worth, TX

Lindsay and Keith had their reception at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.  The Modern is absolutely one of my favorite places and their reception was made even more special with some personal touches like Lindsay’s sister and brother-in-law singing their first dance song.

“My sister and brother-in-law (Liz and Parker or “The Double Whiskey Straits”) played our first dance song (Queen’s You’re my best friend) and did a mini-set later on in the night. It was really awesome to continue the sister tradition of choosing a Queen song for a first dance (Liz & Parker had Queen’s Fat Bottomed Girls as their first dance) and special because they are so musically talented and it was fun to show em off.”

One thing I always love about the Modern is getting to spend some alone time with my couples in the gallery.  It makes for some amazing photos and some well deserved alone time for Lindsay and Keith.  They were also such troopers by letting me take them outside in the freezing cold to get some photos with the twinkles lights in the trees. The rest of the night was spent catching up with friends and dancing like crazy people on the dance floor.

We had so much fun celebrating with Lindsay, Keith and their families.  Please enjoy some of my favorites from their Modern reception.  Congratulations Lindsay and Keith!

Lindsay & Keith – Wedding Ceremony at Marty Leonard ChapelFort Worth, TX

I absolutely love this couple.  Lindsay and Keith are so much fun and know how to make you laugh.  A few minutes with them will brighten your day significantly.  Back when I photographed their engagement session they told me the story of how they met and it is one of the best I’ve heard in a long time! Since I would not be able to do their story justice, Lindsay describes it in her own words:

“Keith and I met at orientation for new jobs at RSM in November of 2014 (Keith in cyber security consulting and me in international tax). Keith introduced himself to me by saying “Hi, I’m Keith Swiat. Not to be confused with Keith Sweat, the R&B singer.” It was 8 in the morning and I had no idea who Keith Sweat was. I sat as far away from him as possible at orientation.  Finally, his resilience and my piqued interest led to a friendly lunch outing where all of our interactions culminated in him: 1) forgetting his umbrella and accepting my offer to share 2) him not realizing he should carry it until I pointed out my arm going numb and my calves cramping from standing on my tiptoes to hold it over his head and 3) Keith informing me he felt like an encased meat as he took the first bite of his meatball sub at my favorite lunch spot (Park Italian). I wasn’t quite sure I liked him until I caught him sniffing me in the coffee shop a week later. His boldness and put himself out there attitude is what I really love about him. Our relationship is built on questionable social behavior and both of us having a great sense of humor.”

Let’s be honest, you know you have met the woman you’re going to marry when she catches you sniffing her and finds it charming.  It was love at first sniff.  Anyway, I was so happy that they chose me to photograph their big day and that I had the chance to get to know this amazing couple!

Lindsey & Matt – Engagement Session at The Dallas Arboretum and Winspear Opera HouseDallas, TX

Lindsey and Matt are so cute together!  I had so much fun hanging out with them and their sweet dog, Bear, at their engagement session.  Lindsey and Matt met at TCU and are big Horned Frog fans.  I love how Matt incorporated all of that into his proposal.  Here is their story in Lindsey’s own words:

“Matt did a wonderful job of surprising me! Since TCU is so close to our hearts, Matt planned the perfect proposal at Frog Fountain. Two of our friends from law school, Sanju and Olivia, came in to visit us to go to a baseball game on the weekend of Cinco de Mayo, 2017. On May 6th, we drove out to Fort Worth and had breakfast at Fuzzy’s before the game. We took them on “a tour” around campus on our walk over to the baseball stadium, right by Frog Fountain. All of a sudden Matt was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was magical… and I was completely surprised!!! We then went to the baseball game, where I was again surprised that we were going to participate in the first pitch, and that Matt had gotten all of our friends and family to come meet us and join in the celebration and cheer on the frogs at the game! We continued our celebration at dinner with family and close friends (many of which had come from out of town) and after dinner drinks at Nylo. It was truly the perfect day”

I am so excited for their big day which will also be at Robert Carr at TCU!  Go Frogs!

Claudia & Patrick – Engagement Session at Japanese Gardens and Airfield WaterfallFort Worth, TX

How adorable are Claudia and Patrick??  Just the cutest, if you ask me!  One thing I like about Texas Decembers is that it still looks like fall!  We got ALL of the fall colors during their engagement session and it was absolutely fabulous.  Claudia and Patrick met while working together about 3 years ago.  Patrick is now in school in Alabama so they are having to do long distance for now.  They love traveling together so Patrick proposed to Claudia while they were on a trip to Canada. Here is their proposal story in her own words:

In order to appropriately celebrate our summer together in 2017, we decided to take a long weekend trip together to Canada. We found a good flight sale, and being the travel aficionados we are, a trip to Ottawa and Montreal was the perfect end to a great three months of being in the same city. Patrick was insanely sneaky, and it should be known that I had NO IDEA the entire time that he was planning everything in the background. We had dinner reservations (not suspicious since once again, we were celebrating the end of the summer), and Patrick suggested we stop by this university campus on our way to dinner. McGill University, is what I would describe as the “Harvard of Canada”. It is old-style, historical, “Hogwarts-y”, and filled with pretty flowers. We walked around in massive circles because Patrick wanted to find this one cool entrance. We were on vacation, and I was super relaxed, so the fact that we were for some reason walking in circles to find this one particular spot didn’t even seem to bother me or raise any sort of questions. When we finally found the entrance, we walked together up this long walk-way to the main building with a beautiful flower garden in front that looked like a heart (really it was McGill’s crest, but it looked like a heart to me). When we got to the top, Patrick got down on one knee, and despite the fact that I think I blacked out in shock and unfortunately couldn’t tell you the exact words that came out of his mouth, it was the sweetest and most beautiful question he has ever asked me. Of course, after multiple “omg’s” and tears, I said yes!

They will be getting married next year and I cannot wait for their big day!  It is sure to be a blast!

Ali & Caleb – Wedding Reception at The Fort Worth ClubFort Worth, TX

What a fun day!  Ali & Caleb’s ceremony was fantastic and now it’s time to party and celebrate all of the little moments that led to this moment!  Ali tells us about the best moment (the proposal!)  in her own words.

“It was a cold and rainy weekend in February and I was down in Austin visiting Caleb. He had planned for us to go to a winery with two of our friends Amy and Henry that evening. We were to pick Amy and Henry up from Camp Lucy to head to the winery and get our tasting on. When we arrived Amy immediately sent Caleb away to do “work” while we could chat. While I was chowing down on a cookie, Amy asked if I would be interested in seeing new developments on the property at Camp Lucy. We were touring the bridal suite and she was asking me if I had any idea of where I would want my wedding to be one day. I pointed to my left hand and said “I have no ring, so not yet” (little did I know) Amy asked if I wanted to go see the new benches in Ian’s Chapel- I thought it odd but I obliged. As she led me up the stairs to the chapel I started to hear music, when we approached the chapel doors she swung them open and there Caleb stood at the end of the aisle of the church surrounded by candles and rose petals. Caleb got down on one knee and the rest is a blur. (I obviously said YES!) I somewhat caught my breath and walked outside to a photographer who was there to take pictures of our special day, she snapped away as I was still blown away that such an amazing man just asked me to be his wife.

Caleb took me to another venue on Camp Lucy’s property where there were flowers, pictures a fire and every romantic thing I could dream up. As we were chatting (really, I was crying like a baby) my Mom and Dad walked through the door followed by my sweet brother Ben, Lauren, and some of my best friends. I was so excited the tears started to flow even more. It was so perfect. Later that evening after the champagne was popping, Caleb ushered us all to his parents’ home where they threw us the most incredible engagement party. However, sweet Caleb was not done yet. He told me that night there would be another engagement party waiting for me when I returned home to Dallas. When I arrived back in Dallas on Sunday all my best friends were waiting to celebrate with us. It was an absolute dream; I cannot wait to Marry Caleb. I am still blown away at how sweet the Lord has been to me-I am lucky to be gaining a man who seeks The Lord fervently and loves me with all that he has. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him!”

I absolutely adore Ali and Caleb and had so much fun celebrating their love with all of their family and friends.  They had one heck of a reception and danced all night long!  Congratulations to Ali and Caleb!

Ali & Caleb – Wedding Ceremony at Robert Carr Chapel at TCUFort Worth, TX

Wow.  What an incredible couple Ali and Caleb are!    I love how Caleb describes the way they first met and their courtship after that led to marriage!  Here is their story in his own words.

“It was the summer of 2015, and I was complaining to one of my best friends of how tired I was of being single and hated the entire process of first dates. My friend Amy listened patiently and began to plant inconspicuous seeds of getting to know Alexandra, the soon to be love of my life. I was taken aback because Ali not only lived 3.5 hrs away, but was also a devout Fighting Texas Aggie and in my opinion not my type. My how I was so wrong!!!!!! It was not until the Winter of 2016, that I finally took Amy up on her suggestion and boldly asked Ali out on a blind date to the Twisted Root burger and beer joint in a suburb of Dallas. I instantaneously felt a connection and could not help but see the beauty and kindness she had within. We spoke a few hours of family and friends and things seemed to flow so organically. A few days after our first encounter, I asked if I could call her and a few phone calls turned into another in person date.

Here is where the story goes south for about two weeks……… I got scared and nervous and did not follow up after our last date.

It finally was about a week before our awesome friend Amy’s wedding, when I asked to see her again. I knew it was a long shot, because I was kind of a jerk but she kindly accepted my offer and went as my date.

We nervously met up the night before our mutual friend’s wedding in San Marcos, where I introduced her to my stomping grounds, which included a sub-par burger joint and fantastic wine bar experience.

The organic conversations that fueled our first encounter was back, as we didn’t skip a beat. I remember loving how natural I felt with Ali and hoped this would be my forever partner in crime.

The following day, Ali and I met up to attend the nuptials of Henry and Amy. I was insanely nervous and knew that I was about to embark on the most incredible journey and adventure of a lifetime………. I just didn’t know how amazing it was going to be.

After the wedding, I asked if we could sit and chat a while. I nervously told her I liked her in the most awkward way possible and didn’t know how it would work, but wanted it to work. She replied by inviting me to meet [her family] and I excitedly accepted her offer. I had no clue the amazing journey to marriage I was about to experience.

It has been a year since Ali and I first met. My heart still skips a beat when I gaze into her eyes. She makes me a better man and I cannot wait to make her my wife.”

With only having 2 weddings left in 2017, I couldn’t be more excited they they were one of them. These two are quite possibly the sweetest and most genuine people you’ll ever meet and their excitement for life is so infectious.  Usually it’s my couples’ faces that hurt after smiling so much for photos, but this time I found my own face hurting from all of the smiling from just being around them and their families.  Enjoy some of my favorite moments from their ceremony and check back for their amazing reception!

Brynn & Michael – Engagement Session at Private Residence and Elemental YogaFort Worth, TX

I loved Brynn and Michael’s engagement session!!  We started off at Brynn’s parents home.  They have a beautiful back yard and this is also where they will be getting married next year!  Brynn and Michael are very into yoga, and I love that they wanted to incorporate that into their session.  They had some pretty sweet poses and I love that it is something that they enjoy doing together.  It makes the photos just that much more special.  It was so much fun hanging with these two and seeing what they love to do together.  I am so excited for their wedding next year!

Sarah & Nick – Engagement Session in Downtown Fort Worth and Magnolia AveFort Worth, TX

Sarah and Nick met while in the marching band at TCU.  Since TCU is such a special part of their relationship, Nick chose to incorporate it into his proposal!  Here is how he did it in Sarah’s own words.

“I knew it was coming, but Nick surprised me with making it happen earlier than I thought it would be. He told me that we were going out for a surprise dinner downtown but wouldn’t say anything else. When I asked what I should wear, I started getting suspicious because he responded, “Your green shirt, blue flower pants, orange shoes, Kendra Scott earrings, and pearls!” We got in the car, and he blindfolded me, and we started driving to the TCU stadium. Much to his amusement, I was still able to tell all the roads we were turning onto, so he had to take a more convoluted route. We got out of the car, and still blindfolded, I was led into the stadium. I only figured out where we were when I heard a golf cart go by. He took me to the band section, as that was where we spend a good portion of our time together, and he had the whole area decorated. He un-blindfolded me and handed me a book that he had written and had illustrated and printed. It was a poem of our story with the last page being the proposal!! I said, “Yes!”

Not only did they meet and get engaged at TCU but they will also be getting married there next year!  I cannot wait for their big day!

Jenna & Conlan – Engagement Session at Highland Park and White Rock LakeDallas, TX

Y’all, I just have to take a second and brag about my couples.  I have had quite the streak of amazingness when it comes to engagements lately and I owe it all to my couples who trust me to make them look awesome, especially when I ask them to do weird things like climb down into a creek.  I loved getting to hang out with Jenna and Conlan over in Dallas for their engagement session.  They are a hoot and had me cracking up the whole time! And bonus points for just going with it when I decided I wanted to go back to a spot we had already shot, but climb down on the rocks and into the creek. And then even more extra special bonus points to Jenna for climbing around on rocks in her heels! You can’t even tell we are in the middle of Dallas and I love it!  They even brought a bottle of champagne to pop and share over at the lake.  I can already tell how much fun their wedding day is going to be! Can’t wait!
